She is the perfect small yacht for family cruising, and with the unique Swing Keel her variable draft gives deep draft performance with shallow draft freedom at the touch of a button. She has been well maintained by her current owner and is in exceptional condition. Viewing is highly recommended.
MANUFACTURER PROVIDED DESCRIPTION
-
Under sail, the Southerly 32 is fast and exhilarating - and a real pleasure to helm. The modern hull shape with plumb stem and long waterline length provides impressive sailing performance whilst the broad transom, twin rudders and Lewmar direct rod steering gives instantly responsive helming and exceptional directional stability - making the yacht easy to control.
-
The instant feeling of space inside the Southerly 32 is quite incredible, with excellent accommodation and good headroom, for a yacht of this size.

VARIABLE DRAFT KEEL
The fixed ballast is an iron casting which acts as a grounding plate and as transverse stiffening for the keel unit. It is fitted into a moulded recess in the hull in the area of the keel box with stainless steel fastenings. The aerofoil keel blade is cast iron and incorporates a stainless steel pivot at the leading edge. Variable draft is achieved by raising and lowering the blade with an electrically driven pump, fitted with a manual back-up. All hydraulics are easily accessible for maintenance. The keel control is fitted at the helm pedestal with a gauge showing the keel position. A removable stainless steel pin enables the keel to be locked in the “up” position.
